I restored 300 year old CORNER CABINET with secret compartments
In this video I will restore 300 year old corner cabinet and I discover many
unusual things along the way. This cabinet had two layers of paint. The first, original one had multicolor solution. The second one was from the 19 century, painted as faux wood, that was popular at this time. After consulting with two other restorers, we decided that, the right thing would be to restore the latest version. Because iboth layers have now historical value and if I would strip the top layer, I probably would strip most of the old paint along the way. Then I need to repaint it, but it will not be old then. It is possible to clean only the top paint, but it will be very expensive solution.

In this video I will restore classic Estonian china cabinet, that was mistreated by somebody. That model was popular in 1920 -1940 era, so they are pretty common even now. This one has fancy beveled glasses and nice walnut veneer. In 1950' s, the design changed and also materials were much cheaper. Absolutely beautiful.
You sir, are an artist!
What is the deal with all these restoration channels that don’t talk. I wish they would put that somewhere so I can skip.
This is an amazing piece of restoration. Your skill and craftsmanship are of the highest order. Well done.
больше маляр, чем рестаратор
That's not a 300 year old corner cabinet. Haha Are you stupid or something? It is from 1925-1930
I’m in the uk and we had some when I was a child in the 70s/80s, still is one in my mum’s kitchen, it might be older than her 😂 it’s comfy though and no so heavy I can’t shuffle it under me when I’m sitting at a table. I find so many chairs now are just too heavy to do it now.
Wow! Beautiful Work, I could literally watch you all day!
Wow this is one of your best ! ❤️
12:33 if someone who made the bench in the 1900’s that someone now would have a mini computer in their hand and could copy the pattern they created with a laser cutting machine they would have thought they were crazy!
That rocking chair went through hell and back.😬 Now it looks great.👍
This is the first video of yours I've seen. I really enjoy these kinds of videos, so I subbed.
Ain’t now way that’s 300 yrs old
So what would something that old restored sell for?
From a crumbling wreck to a renewed treasure. Beautiful job!
Nooooo, just stop before painting!
Beautifully done, my compliments! Your ways of sawing, however (from 13:47 to 13:57) are a bit dangerous though. You're using the push sticks in a hazardous way, it's better to push only against the piece to be used and towards the saw fence. In any case, the piece is too small and too short to saw off on that side, it is better to keep a larger piece on the right side of the blade instead of the other way around. When using your crosscut saw, never ever 'close' the piece to be used between the blade and another piece... it's asking for an uncontrolled launch through the workshop. Have a great day!
Just amazing! Stunning! You sir, are a master and an artist at your craft!👍👏
Beautiful restoration.
Beautiful job as always!❤
Not good work
You are a master.
There are different versions of restoration you can use. I like his style because it preserves the character of what it was and maintains the original look. We aren't doing a backyard restoration where we repaint everything and make it totally different. It's respect for the years it took to get to us and keeping it usable and still beautiful.
From a woodworker of over 45 years... well done sir. Excellent work.
AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL
Very nice, well done
Шикарное кресло
I love the high gloss finish, but think the 60s' knobs should have been retained.
Vai ficar linda como sempre gratidão 🌟👍👏💙
It was bloody awful and still looks bloody awful 🤣
Tere! I recently discovered your channel. My grandpa is from Estonia and I hold such a special place in my heart for the country. We got to visit several years ago and it was the best experience of my life. Watching this is like a little piece of home. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work
Стул шикарный
Bravo 👏👏👏👏👍
That's not the way you're supposed to use that wood grain tool. It seemed to kinda work the way he did it too though.
So what would this chair have been used for? Very unusual and couldn’t believe you wove that came! I kept thinking ‘hey you can buy lengths of woven rattan you know?’ But of course you had to teach us something new, didn’t you!? More background on your weird and wonderful projects please 🙏
Очень красивое трюмо и завораживает.
I wish my husband have a talent like yours 🙏 fixing things etc ❤❤❤
When you treat every case and every client as if it was you..
*MAGNIFICENT‼️🤎*
Gorgeous 😍
My ex father in law use to repair cane furniture. It started out as physical therapy after a heart attack and ended up supplementing his social security. He would even hand make pieces that needed to be replaced and made his own wooden dowels
It is an art indeed
This is why I won’t restore furniture with veneer, as veneer always bubbles and warps in time. I prefer solid wood pieces. Most high quality antiques are made of solid hardwood. Veneer didn’t exist until the last century.
